We have a small library in Dunkirk Refugee Camp. There is a small collection of French, English, Farsi and Sorani Kurdish books. It is a place for people to read, learn and chat together. Refugees have limited access to information on the rights of asylum seekers and do not necessarily trust information given by Government bodies. We are now holding some legal information in our library to enable refugees to read this in a safe and neutral environment. We can’t give legal advice, but we can ‘signpost’ people to other organisations. The library holds some legal information on seeking asylum and human rights, including the Right to Remain Toolkit and the GISI Information on seeking asylum in France.
